FreshChoice Barrington donates to Christchurch City Mission
As part of the monthly Community Fund Double Up Month, FreshChoice Barrington donated $1,000 towards Christchurch City Mission’s new initiative.
Christchurch City Mission has recently implemented a new initiative within their Women’s Day Programmes relating to professional and personal development of the women they serve.
Matthew Mark, Christchurch City Mission Social Services Team Member says “the initiative provides formal barista training alongside food preparation and hygiene training undertaken in partnership with ARA Institute located in Christchurch. This formalized partnership will enable course participants, particularly consisting of vulnerable women, to gain a formal NZQA qualification”.
FreshChoice Barrington has covered the cost of three women to complete this course with individual intensive training.
Mark says “additionally a job trial and potential employment connections are to be made for the course participants through the ARA network.”
“This body of work will develop new professional skills in the women that we serve within our community creating a very real sense of worth and value, and enable growth into meaningful employment”.
