FreshChoice Kepler Challenge 2018
On the first day of summer 650 people lined up to take on two of the most gruelling endurance mountain runs held in New Zealand. The event which consists of the FreshChoice Kepler Challenge 60km run and a shorter 27km run aptly named the FreshChoice Luxemore Grunt, has become an iconic event in the Te Anau calendar.
The number of entries is limited to 450 for the FreshChoice Kepler Challenge and 200 for the shorter race. People come from all over the country and the world to test their stamina in the incredibly beautiful terrain of the Kepler Track within the Fiordland National Park. The main sponsor FreshChoice has been involved with the event for many years with the owners of the local Te Anau store being avid supporters and for the past three years have also been the main sponsor. Owner Keith Cullen says “It’s a great event that brings the whole community together.”
This year was another fantastic event with Andy Good from Chistchurch beating the race record that has stood for 10 years for the FreshChoice Luxmore Grunt and Ruth Croft winning the women’s race. In the FreshChoice Kepler Challenge Daniel Jones of Wellington took out the men’s and Nancy Jiang from Queenstown took out the women’s events.
Congratulations to all of those who participated in another successful FreshChoice Kepler Challenge event.
