Enjoy a Kiwi take on a classic with this Fairy Bread & Butter Pudding recipe from the Glenn Jones Kiwiana tea towel collection.

Ingredients

  • 1 jar Hundreds & Thousands
  • 8 slices of Bread
  • 3 cups Milk
  • 4 Eggs
  • 4 Tbsp White Sugar
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Essence
  • Butter

Method

  1. Spread the bread slices with butter and cover with hundreds & thousands.
  2. Cut bread into triangle quarters and arrange in large baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl beat together the milk, egg, sugar and vanilla essence. Pour over the bread.
  4. Bake at 180ºC for 40-45 minutes, until the custard is set (check regularly after 35 minutes as cooking time may vary in different ovens).
  5. Sprinkle with remaining hundreds & thousands, serve with a little cream or ice cream.
