Waffles
It's time to warm up the waffle maker!
Fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside these fool-proof waffles are an all-time brunch favourite. Top with your favourite seasonal fruit, nuts or indulgent sauce!
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1Tbsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 50g butter, melted
Toppings (optional)
- Seasonal fruit
- Chocolate sauce
- Nuts
- Maple syrup
Method
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar; set aside.
- Separate the yolks from the whites. In a small bowl, beat the egg whites to a stiff foam.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs yolks; add the milk and butter, beat thoroughly.
- Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Make a 'well' in the centre of the dry ingredients; pour the liquid ingredients into the 'well', mix with a wooden spoon until the flour mixture is just dampened.
- Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter.
- Brush the preheated waffle iron with a small amount of melted butter. Add the recommended amount of batter for your machine. Close the iron.
- Cook until the waffle is golden brown and crisp. Repeat until the remaining mixture is used.
To serve
- Serve warm with your choice of toppings.
