Your Guide to Wine and Food Matches
We're celebrating Beer and Wine Week at FreshChoice and have come up with a collection of wine and food matches. Whether it's a steak, roast, salad or seafood, we've got some suggestions to help guide you through your wine and food matching journey.
The primary flavours of rosé wine are red fruit, flowers, citrus and melon which is perfect for the summer and pairs well with light salads, pasta dishes and seafood and goats cheese.
Beef steak often has very strong flavours from the meat and the marinade and sauces that accompany it. Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with steak as it has powerful robust fruit flavours and the wine does not overwhelm the steak
Pinot Noir pairs well with most lamb dishes. The bright fruit flavours & soft tannins complement the Lamb’s rich earthy taste lightening the dish.
When you're enjoying the succulent, sweet flavours and juicy tender texture of roast pork, along with the crunchy richness of crackling, a chardonnay makes a great match. Chardonnay's peachy, stone fruit and citrus flavours sing beautifully with pork.
A delicate cheesecake calls for a floral scented, fruity sweet wine such as Moscato, Riesling, Muscat de Beaumes de Venise.
A richly fruited style of wine, often medium dry with a creamy mouth feel will pair well with salads, fresh seafood, goats cheese, strawberries and cream, and is also a winner with ham.
